July and Early August brought weird weather to these parts - lots of cooler temps and rain. Even so, we determined to get a little more fun in the sun prior to the official start of school, which happened last week. Yesterday was our first day off. That's the beauty of homeschooling... 5 days on, 1 day off, if you so choose.
The nastiness that was my boys' room could be avoided no longer, so I took a 'teacher inservice' day to get things in order. The state in which I found things in that corner of our house is fodder for another post... But, I digress.
Today's topic is, of course, a photo journal of the last 2 weeks before we began our fall homeschool schedule:
Big Sissy rocks.
Baby loves water, even sprayed in his face. Don't worry - they used the mist setting.
We took a week's vacation to the beach on Lake Michigan, one of my favorite places on Earth. We lucked into renting a house with a phenomenal view of the harbor. I was simply looking for a place with the right number of beds and a first floor bathroom, so the amazing, peaceful water scenery was a lovely bonus.
We love having my parents with us on vacations.
Yes, the Midwest does have gorgeous, white, sandy beaches. And no sharks.
Pada, the patriarch, is supervising.
We were also blessed to have my sister and her kiddos along for a couple days. These kids are BFFs.
There were many attempts to dig holes to their cousins in Hong Kong.
Good buddies made the trip even sweeter.
A river view and Calvin and Hobbes with breakfast. Life is good.
As long as Pada is along, Baby is good to go.
See the knitting project in the background? Joy and my Mom took a class at the local yarn shop, and they are hooked! Happiness!
We are easing into schoolwork and fall schedules. Extra-curricular activities are ramping up.
This week, the weather is hot and muggy. We may need another break for swimming.
Have a great week!
