A Fine Fat Tuesday

A normal Tuesday morning involves a good amount of car time.  We shuffle Joy to and from her Latin class, pick up her buddy, and drive them both to their afternoon ballet classes.

If the weather is too yucky, and I just can't bear the thought of dragging everyone in and out of the van a million times, we wait in the van, reading books, running errands, etc., until we can settle back at home for a couple hours in the afternoon.

Today, however, we had just enough sore throat/cold symptoms to justify skipping classes.  We were sick enough to stay home, but not bad enough to stay in bed.

sniffly, but still smiling!

When everybody was younger, and there were fewer reasons to drive all over creation, we had many days of happy crafting in the afternoons.  Those days have become rare.

Today, the opportunity presented itself, so we made good use of it.  I had a couple Lent activities on deck, so we went for it!  Thank you CatholicIcing.com!!

You're never too old to make things out of clay, especially these cute mini Mass kits!!

finished products on their way into the oven

I just love how they turned out!!  I bought little wooden boxes for storage purposes, but the girls turned theirs into little churches.
Yoyo added a Hymnal

Note the Hymn numbers on the board. Joy added those plus hot glued in OL of Fatima. Love it!

And here are the boys':

Never fear, Crash got in on the action, too:

You know it's been a good art session when you need a full-fledged shower afterward!

Last weekend at Mass, Father said, "No plan equals no Lent!!"  He's right, of course.  I'm hoping to have some reading plans nailed down by tomorrow.  Fish is in the freezer.  It's a start!

Looking forward to Ash Wednesday!  Hope you are, too!!  Have a great day.
